What to Bring to Your First Appointment

At your first appointment, it is important that we have all the information necessary to plan and discuss your treatment.

When we contact you to confirm your appointment (via telephone or SMS), we will remind you of some of the things you need to bring.

The following things are important for your first visit:

• Referral from your dentist/doctor.   Although it is not required to have a referral to see us.  If you have been provided with a referral please bring it to your appointment.  Sometimes this has been sent to us already. If you are unsure, please contact us, and we will let you know if it has been received.
• X-rays.  We normally require at least one X-ray called an OPG. This is a large (approximately A4 size) X-ray that shows your teeth and jaws. Sometimes, this will already have been sent to us.  If we don’t have one, we can arrange for you to have one taken either at the time we see you in our rooms or before your appointment.
• List of medications.  If you have an extensive medical history, it may be a good idea to obtain a health summary printout from your GP doctor to bring to your appointment.
• Medicare and private health insurance cards.  

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

When you arrive, you will be checked in by the reception staff who will confirm your details and take your Medicare card number and private health insurance details.

If you haven’t completed an online personal and medical history, you will be given one to complete.

At your consultation, a full medical history will be taken and, if necessary, an examination will be carried out. Your X-rays will be discussed, and all risks and benefits of the proposed treatment will be outlined.  If any further X-rays or tests are needed, they will be scheduled during this visit.

Once a treatment plan has been formulated, an itemised quotation of all surgical costs will be provided.

Following the consultation, the reception staff will organise any further appointments for you. This includes surgical appointments, referrals for further tests, and any further appointments with your dentist/doctor.
